Pacific Green Innovations, Inc. (PGI) is pleased to announce, after months of hard work, the launch of a panel manufacturing plant in Port-au-Prince.
Following the earthquake of January 2010, Pacific Green Innovations, Inc. (PGI) found it imperative to act immediately with a possible solution in the face of such devastation. As a result PGI and its Haitian partner Société Haïtienne dePromotion Immobilière S.A (SHAPI) have jointly founded Haiti Building Solutions, SA, (HBS) a building products manufacturing company which locally manufactures structural honeycomb panels, that can be easily assembled by five persons in less than 5 days to create a fully functional move in ready home. The 35,000 sq/ft facility is located in Parc Industrial Metropolitain, Building 6, Port-au-Prince, Haiti.
The company firmly believes that the only way for Haiti to move forward is in the pass through of new technologies to the Haitian people and in the creation of an economy through jobs. Nearly every aspect in the manufacturing of panels and construction of structures will be done in Haiti by Haitians.
According to Charles Fox, President/Director General, the company has striven to be as close to 100% Haitian employed and managed as possible. Immediate local jobs being created is nearly 300 persons; with local job creation over the next six (6) months forecast in excess of 600 individuals.
As production facilities are increased to meet the immediate housing demands in Haiti, the need for utilized workers will be in excess of 1,200 individuals. This need is forecast within the first twelve (12) months of production.
Pacific Green Innovations, Inc. (PGI) has been in continuous contact with President Clinton’s office and the Clinton Foundation and has relied on their expertise for the proper procedures and protocols in assisting the country of Haiti in its rebuilding efforts.
"We truly believe that the only way Haiti will rebuild itself is for all parties to work together for the betterment of the people of Haiti. All of us together are smarter and stronger than any one of us alone. As such, we truly believe that the only way Haiti will rebuild itself is for all parties to work together for the betterment of the people of Haiti. No one person, no one company, no one country will be able to do this alone.“ says Charles Fox. "Men anpil, chay pa lou"
All of the core materials and panels are made in Haiti by Haitians at the Port-au-Prince (SONAPI) facility. The manufacturing and construction of homes will employ a complete and environmentally sound building systems process utilizing 100% local labor. All materials are 100% recyclable.
Local materials are utilized in the construction and finishing of each structure, this includes locally manufactured windows and doors as well as locally procured products such as steel, tile, paint, concrete and fixtures.
The entire process is mandated to be "by Haitians for Haitians".
Through the use of the panels, Pacific Green Innovations, Inc. (PGI) can price a fully finished home (utilizing structural panel for floor) at less than $180usd per sq/m. Homes are finished with Haitian made doors and windows and have been wired electrical lighting/outlets and includes plumbing (toilet/sink/shower). Buyers will have a choice of tile and interior/exterior paint color schemes.
